Fair Isle is a small island in the Shetland archipelago, in the north of Scotland, where this type of fabric originated, whose technique is valued and recognized throughout the world.

It is characterized by the use of complex and colorful Jacquard patterns, worked with two different colored threads, which usually form alternating geometric designs between them. The Fair Isle style may seem very complicated, but it is very delicious and once you start, you can't stop.

This technique came into vogue in the 1920s (a century ago!), as the Prince of Wales began wearing Fair Isle waistcoats. The typical fabrics of this island have specific characteristics: they are always woven in a circular pattern, no more than two colors are used per turn and there is never a distance of more than five points between points of the same color.

Fair Isle is very popular in winter fashion and is commonly used in sweaters, hats, scarves and other outerwear accessories. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the Fair Isle fabric is very interesting for being durable and very warm.
